OCIA - Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (formerly called RCIA Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) is a gradual process for adults to explore, learn, and become fully initiated members of the Catholic Church. It involves weekly sessions of prayer, study of what the Church teaches and believes and fellowship. Participants prepare for the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist, typically at the Easter Vigil. OCIA is for unbaptized individuals, baptized Christians from other denominations, and baptized Catholics needing to complete their initiation sacraments – First Reconciliation, First Eucharist and Confirmation.
